5 Favourite Food Sites

To kick off Friday, I am dubbing Fridays — Fun Fridays!  That’s right, Friday’s theme is “FUN.”  What better way to kick off the weekend!

Screen Shot 2014-01-31 at 10.45.10 AMI have been asked frequently as to what are my absolute favourite food websites.  I have many, but I decided I would share my top 5.  Check them out and enjoy.

1.  Primal Palate – primalpalate.com

I have been using this website since it was in beta format.  I love their recipes because they have yummy photos (they take their own) to let me see what I am making. Since they are paleo, I know the recipes are gluten-free.  Their revised website recently launched (cleaned up and gorgeous), which includes new filters and a menu planning section.  There are recipes, menus, blog posts and a place to store the recipes you like called “myKitchen.”  And you can get an app for your Smartphone to have those recipes at your fingertips while shopping.  Well worth checking this one out.

2.  WOW! Weight Loss Recipes – UPDATE: This website is no longer available.

Of course, I am going to direct you to WOW!’s recipes.  After all, I am the owner and nutritionist for WOW! Weight Loss – Cochrane.  We have a variety of recipes that are shown to promote fat loss included on this site.  These recipes are based on natural wholesome foods and are loaded with nutrients to support your body.  Most of these recipes included nutritional research or informational tidbits to educate you about healthy food choices.

3.  Elana’s Pantry – elanaspantry.com/gluten-free-recipes/

This website was one of the first ones I turned to, when I was diagnosed with a gluten/gliadin intolerance.  I needed baked goodies that would replace the ones I loved.  Today, I don’t indulge on as many sweets, treats and breads, but a couple of years back, I certainly did.  I was sure I would be lost without my treats.

4.  The Baking Beauties: Gluten-Free Recipes for Everyday Living – thebakingbeauties.com

Great photos, great recipes, and loads of inspiration.  In fact, I see there is a quinoa chocolate cake featured.  I think I have an experiment coming this weekend.  My boys love this kind of an experiment.

5.  Paleo Plan – paleoplan.com/recipes/

Another fabulous resource for recipes and if you want menus, you can order those too.  They don’t have enticing photos to promote you to pick a recipe to try, but they have no shortage of recipes.

Bonus Site: Pinterest.com – Recipes

Who could forget Pinterest?  Pinterest will absorb lots of time, if you let it.  Besides food inspiration, you will find recipes galore.  Although I have an account, I am still figuring this part of social media out.

Another Bonus Site: Meghan TV

Meghan Telpner, Nutrionista and author of Undiet, has short video segments covering cooking, interviews, information, fitness and so much more.  I don’t often get to enjoy this site, due to our country-style internet (slow and limited data).

Whew…it was difficult to narrow down my 5 fav food websites.  I will definitely need to do another blog with more of my favourites.

Hum…maybe next week, I will feature my 5 (current) favourite cookbooks.  That will be really hard to narrow down too, but I think I can do it.

Join me throughout the week for fabulous tips, tidbits, and recipes.
