Step into the New You

Step into You

Hard to believe, but we are midway through January 2015 and for many of us, we have already given up on our New Year’s resolutions. Right?

This year I decided that I wasn’t making New Year’s resolutions — I laid out my goals in December instead, so my goals weren’t part of the failed resolutions of my past.  Instead, I made goals in several areas like physical, spiritual, intellectual, emotional and mental well being.  As well, I wrote out what I want “me” to look like when I achieve each goal.  Creating the life and “me” of my desires and dreams takes work, effort and time.  After all, we know that we need to work for what we want.

No excuses.  Forget your failed resolutions.  Life will never be perfect and besides, perfect is boring.  Start right now, today, by envisioning the you you want to become and/or be.

Then write out one (that right, only one) goal you would like to achieve this year. You can always add others to your goal list at a later date.

Who are you going to be when you achieve your goals?

How would you feel? What can you do right now to create that feeling and emotion? Create the emotions of achieving your goals, and you will be able to attract the outcome.

If you want to lose 10 pounds, so you can feel sexy – what can you do right now to feel that way? Pamper yourself with a candlelit bubble bath? Whip out your best dress, get your hair done and go on a date with your man?

Instead of waiting for the “goal” to happen to you, why not step into the new YOU? Try acting from that place, and integrate the new identity into every cell of your body.

How does it feel to act like the new YOU? If it feels good, stay there. If it feels off, maybe you want to revisit your goals to see if they are truly in alignment with your values.

If you are feeling you are having one foot on the gas pedal and one foot on the brake, ask yourself, “Do I truly believe that I can become this new person?” If there is any doubt, any little voice in your head that says you can’t, see what beliefs are holding you back from living as the new YOU. Until all of you are on board (conscious, subconscious and your body), your efforts will be met with frustration.

What you can do today: List 3 things you can do right now to achieve your desired feelings and emotions… and do them often!
